These are the various boards and committees through which First Baptist serves its members, the community, and Christ’s Kingdom. As Christians we are called to share God’s love and we do this by giving our time, talents, and gifts to others.
Plans, maintains, promotes, staffs, and evaluates the scheduled and special programming of the church which is intended to instruct, equip and enable the people for lives of active faith, including: the Church School, Youth Ministries and Bible Study groups; reviews and selects curriculum for these educational programs; provides for training and support of the Church School teachers and leaders.
To work closely with the Pastor by assisting him/her in serving the needs of the church’s membership; visit and assist sick and shut-in members and the bereaved; provide gift baskets to those in need at Thanksgiving, Christmas and upon request of the Church, and by serving the needs of the church’s membership.
To create an environment that promotes Christian development – teaching, learning, and spreading the word of God; proclaim the Good News; take part in the common life and worship service of the church; pray and study the faith of the Christian church; support the church through tithe, time, and talents; participate in the governing responsibilities of the church.
The Kitchen/Hospitality Committee seeks to serve as the welcoming arm of the church. The Kitchen Committee sets and prepares the menus when the church provides meals before or after worship services/events. They are also responsible for maintaining the appearance, cleanliness and making recommendations for equipment repair or replacement at church meetings.
To enlist and to challenge all men of the church to action; discover and utilize the talents of men to strengthen the programs and activities of the church; and develop young men in Christian growth and development.
The purpose of First Baptist Music Ministry is to provide a ministry that leads and facilitates the congregation in true worship of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ through music and song. Their ultimate goal has a dual role; 1) to bring glory and praise to God and 2) to strengthen and unify the church body and community through praise and worship to Christ through music and song.
This is offered the First Sunday each month, in person, at 11:00am at First Baptist Church. This is lead by Pastor Flemmings and is designed to present students with a comprehensive look at God’s word, and to make God’s Word alive in their lives.
To manage the matters of the secular business of the church (financial, legal, material, and others directed by the church) guided by the Holy Spirit.
The Usher Ministry duties include making sure that everyone who arrives for receives a bulletin, has a giving envelope, and that they are seated properly. They are also responsible for making sure that everyone respects the worship service by not walking or entering the sanctuary during inappropriate times.
The Women’s Service Society supports both the church body and the local community. Utilizing their gifts to encourage the spreading of the Good News of the Gospel of Jesus the Christ, they study the needs of society in order to aid in the development of programs, people, processes and resources to benefit the community at large.
The Worship Committee shall work cooperatively with the Pastor and Music Committee to coordinate, plan and promote the music program and drama activities of the Church. The committee shall assist in enlisting support of the Church for the music, drama and worship ministries and planning the year’s calendar of activities and finances.
